Dive Site: Pier Cellars
Location: On the west coast of Plymouth Sound, south of breakwater
Description: Reef
Depth: 4 - 15 metres (13 - 50 feet)
Visibility: 1 - 12 metres (3 - 40 feet)
Rating: ***
Pier Cellars starts from the cave structures on the shoreline down to where the rocks meet the sandy seabed of Plymouth Sound. There is a lot of kelp growth and other plant life which attracts the usual flora and fauna including cuttlefish, spider and edible crabs and on the last dive I did there I saw a huge jellyfish that seemed to come out of nowhere - it really made me jump! The shore keeps this area very sheltered so good for beginners and photographers.
