Dive Site: Jenny Cliff Bay
Location: On the east coast of Plymouth Sound, north of Fort Bovisand
Description: Drift dive
Depth: 14 metres (46 feet)
Visibility: 0 - 14 metres (0 - 46 feet)
Rating: ***
Jenny Cliff Bay is an area of the sound which is not protected by the breakwater and consequently can see large currents making it a prime spot for a good drift dive. Catching the drift is recommended, as the bottom is mainly sand and so it increases your chance of seeing some scallops on the move (they're crazy when they swim!) and a load of spider and edible
crabs, not forgetting the odd dogfish or two. As this is close to the shore, there are some areas of rock around which seem to attract fish. This is really quite a pleasant dive, but try to prevent divers hitting the bottom too hard or you'll find the silt bringing the visibility down to zilch!
