Burrowing anemone (cerianthid) at Lighthouse Point, Malta dive site

Scuba Diving in Malta, Europe

Reader Reviews:

Dive Site: Lantern / Lighthouse Point

Location: Just off the island of Comino

Description: Chimney, cave, wall and swim-through

Depth: 6 - 34 metres (20 - 112 feet)

Visibility: 15 metres (50 feet)

Rating: ****

After a boat ride of about 35 minutes we anchored and dropped into about 5 metres depth. We travelled along the top of a reef with a slight current against us taking us to 16 metres, seeing a large shoal of barracuda at the end. We then went over the drop-off to 34 metres, through a small cave and along to a cascade of boulders at 30 metres which we were able to swim through. We swam along to the entrance of the chimney at 22 metres coming out on top of the reef at 6 metres which was really lovely, with octopus and baby moray eels.

An excellent dive and well worth the boat trip. Drop over the cliffs and out towards the big boulders at 30 to 35 metres keeping an eye out for the big groupers. The chimney is great on the way up but don't try to descend down it as it is no place for ear problems!
