Located on the north western tip of Cyprus in the Akamas Marine Reserve, St Georges Island is one of the very few wall dives in Cyprus. Not so much a true wall dive as a sudden drop off, this dive site offers a bit of something for everyone. Marine life is quite plentiful (for Cyprus). Don't be surprised to see a few large grouper, clouds of damsels, banded & saddled bream, barracuda and of course lots of nosey little wrasse. Octopus and turtles are often seen in the area too.
The drop itself starts at around 10 metres and drops quite abruptly to the gently sloping sea floor at 32 metres. The slope then continues down well over 50 metres though there's not much for techies to see other than poseidon grass. The wall however is an interesting geological feature, home to squirrelfish, morays and delightful little nudibranchs. All in all a very pleasant morning or afternoon dive for beginners to the more advanced.
